Live Fly Fishing for Family
The fly fishing category involves the use of a fly rod and fly to catch any live competition category species. Fish submitted for the individual competition are based on weight, while fish for the fly fishing category are based on length.
The live fly fishing category fish must be photographed and measured on a reputable Brag Mat to meet QLD legal size. No homemade mats will be accepted. To ascertain that the live category fish has been caught within the competition time, an official free of charge HookUp sticker can be collected from the merchandise marquee during the event. Three digital photos, one showing the whole fish, with the head at the start of the measure with the fly in the fish’s mouth, the second photo zoomed in on the tail showing its length, and the third photo showing the angler holding the fish and the Fly rod on which the fish was caught on in the photo. All photos must display the current free of charge HookUp sticker and the fly the fish was caught upon.
In addition, the competitor may choose to purchase the current year, official Boyne Tannum HookUp Fly Fishing Brag Mat to measure and photograph this live fish category species. An entrant photographing their fly fishing catch on the HookUp Fly Fishing Brag Mat will go into an additional random prize draw for the overall event.
The winner of the live fly fishing category is a junior or senior entrant for the overall HookUp event (there are no daily prizes issued) and the fly fishing entrant can win the fly fishing category as well as other categories. The fly fishing category winners will win the following prizes:
